Randy starts Old Deschutes Lumber in Bend, Oregon, supplying lumber for garage doors, fencing, hot tubs, saunas, decking, grilling planks, signs and birdhouses.
Randy begins selling lumber to customers across the United States.
Old Deschutes Lumber is incorporated.
Cedar, Douglas fir and other Northwest species remain Randy’s specialties. Away from work, he enjoys time with his wife Julie, hunting, fishing, skiing, woodworking and barbecuing.

Randy started at a Southern Oregon lumber mill in 1968, while he was attending college. Fourteen years later he opened Old Deschutes Lumber in Bend, supplying lumber for garage doors, fencing, hot tubs, saunas, decking, grilling planks, signs and birdhouses.
By 1989 he was selling to customers across the United States, and the company was incorporated in 2003. Today we broker lumber from mills throughout the Western United States for customers here and abroad — with cedar and Douglas fir as specialties, along with other Pacific Northwest species.
Away from the phone, Randy spends time with his wife Julie, and goes hunting, fishing, skiing, woodworking and barbecuing.
